I love to have a lot of texture on my layouts and found a way to add some with ribbon and Fabri-Tac - ribbon "scrunching". I hope you'll give it a try after seeing this tutorial!!

Fabri-Tac is a fantasic fabric adhesive but I use it almost exclusively for all my adhesive needs - even paper - but especially for embellishments. It's amazingly strong and dries fairly fast. You can find it at pretty much any craft store.

OK - so gather your supplies. You'll need your project, a length of ribbon (at least 2x longer than the area you will be putting the ribbon on) and a bottle of Fabri-Tac:

Working in about 2" sections, apply a fair amount of Fabri-Tac where you'll be placing your ribbon:

Then, place your ribbon on top of the wet Fabri-Tac and use your fingers to "scrunch" the ribbon together to create "ruching". You don't have to work too fast because the Fabric-Tac will stay workable for 45 seconds or so:

Continue to apply Fabri-Tac and scrunch your ribbon to your desired length:

Voila...you're done!! Here's a close up of my completed project:

And the full view - I used Sketch #16 here:

So give this quick and easy technique a try on your next layout. It's a really fun way to add some great texture!!

That is amazingly pretty. I even have some of the glue in my enormous stash of mine. I am going to try it out right now cause you made it look so easy. I have learned so many cool things on this site. Thanks to all that contribute and of course our Queen Julie!
Wow Julie! I never knew you could do this with just fabri-tac. This is awesome!

I think this is a great technique. I only have one problem with it. I am wondering if
Fabri-Tac is acid free.. I did a little research and found nothing to state that it is.
I think we have to be very careful what we put on our scrapbook pages to insure they
will last for years and years. Would love some feedback on this issue.
Thanks
hi PatsyT, I read my bottle of FaBRI-TAC, and the front of my bottle definitely says acid and lignin free. It is made by beacon( they also make Zip-Dry).

God Bless,

Thanks for sharing. I shall try my next layout using this technique. Also love your final product. Cute little ballerina there.
I do a lot of ribbon scrunching too! Hadn't thought to use an adhesive like that! Thanks for the tip and the tutorial!
